Getting started

Your first episode

From a recording on your computer to an episode ready to share.

Before you begin

Sign in to Hilite. Have an audio file ready, or use a microphone to record in the app. Check that your account has enough available editing time for your recording.

1. Record or upload

From the Dashboard, choose Upload for an existing recording or Record to make a new one.

For an upload, browse for your file or drag it into the upload area. The current uploader accepts MP3, M4A, MP4 and WAV files, up to 200 MB. Leave the upload open until processing finishes.

For a new recording, allow microphone access when your browser asks. Make a short test first and listen back before recording the full episode.

2. Listen and enhance

At Enhance Audio, use Studio Sound if it is available on your plan. Compare No Enhancements with Enhanced and listen for the version that best suits your recording.

Learn about Studio Sound.

3. Edit your episode

Open the editor to review your recording. Use the transcript to navigate and edit spoken content, and the waveform for more precise adjustments. Listen around each edit to check that the conversation still flows naturally.

Explore audio to text editing.

4. Prepare to publish

Review your episode title, description and show selection. Listen through your final audio before publishing. Use a draft if you still need to make changes.

Publishing an episode and connecting a listening platform are separate steps. If you are setting up a show for the first time, follow Distribute your show.

Keep creating

Your unfinished work lives in Library → Drafts. Find your shows under Library → Shows.

If something gets in the way, start with upload troubleshooting or contact the team.
