Our story
Hilite began with a real creative problem. Dumi launched Zimbabwean Voices to share stories from change makers, but the editing and production process quickly became heavy. The voice was there. The story was there. The friction was everywhere. Paul, a software engineer and DJ, understood both sides of the problem: the power of audio and the complexity of making it sound finished. Together, we started building what became Hilite, a platform built for creators, thought leaders, academics, entertainers, business owners, change makers, and anyone who wants to give voice to something they believe in.
Three principles that show up in every product decision we make. They are also the test we use when we are choosing between two roads.
Make the next episode easier than the last. Most creators don’t stop because they run out of ideas. They stop because the work around the idea becomes too heavy. Every feature we build should make podcasting feel lighter, faster, and easier to repeat.
The voice is the work. The rest is plumbing. Creators should be able to focus on what they want to say. Hilite handles the production layers around the voice, from recording and editing to enhancement, content generation, publishing, and sharing.
AI should amplify expression, not replace it. We believe technology should protect what makes a voice feel real: tone, cadence, accent, emotion, and point of view. Hilite is here to support the creator, not flatten them.
