How to record a class

Outline the lesson, examples, questions, and any student contributions that require permission.

The target is an intelligible lesson that students can revisit. Decide the length, sections, and final destination before recording.

Choose a quiet, soft-furnished room. Keep the microphone a consistent distance from the speaker and remove preventable noise before using processing.

Record a short section at realistic volume. Listen for clipping, echo, plosives, background noise, and any change in tone when the speaker moves.

Capture a class in manageable sections. When a mistake happens, pause and repeat the full sentence so the edit is easy to locate.

Keep the original recording until the final version has been reviewed.
