01 — Prepare the show
Finish the podcast information first
Before distribution, prepare the show title, description, category, artwork and at least one complete episode. The episode should have a clear title, description and accessible audio enclosure.
If you use Hilite or another podcast host, the host creates and maintains the RSS feed that listening platforms read.
02 — Find the RSS feed
Use the feed supplied by your host
An RSS feed contains the show information and links to episode audio and artwork. If Spotify hosts the show, the feed is created after the first episode is published. If another provider hosts it, retrieve the feed URL there.
Make sure you can access the email address listed in the feed because platforms may use it for ownership verification.
Validate the podcast RSS feed
Check important show, episode and enclosure fields before distribution.
03 — Add or claim the show
Connect the podcast to Spotify
If Spotify is already your host, publishing through Spotify for Creators makes the show available on Spotify automatically. If the show is hosted elsewhere, use Spotify for Creators to add or claim the podcast with its RSS feed and complete the ownership verification requested by the platform.
Review the imported artwork, title, description and episode information before completing the setup.
04 — Publish future episodes
Update the host, not every directory
Once the feed is connected, publish new episodes and metadata changes through the hosting provider. Spotify reads those updates from the feed instead of requiring a fresh submission for every episode.
Keep the feed stable when changing hosts and follow the migration process so subscribers and directory connections are preserved.
05 — Improve discoverability
Make the episode easy to understand
Use specific episode titles, clear descriptions and accurate categories. Metadata should tell both listeners and retrieval systems what the episode is about before playback.
Review analytics and audience response, but keep the publishing schedule realistic enough to maintain.
Finish the episode and send it to your listeners.
Use Hilite to edit, enhance, prepare metadata and publish from one connected workflow.
