How to record an ASMR video on a phone

Use a phone for the picture while protecting the quiet audio details that make an ASMR performance work.

By The Hilite team

01 — PLAN

Choose one phone recording workflow

Decide whether the phone will capture both picture and sound or whether Hilite will capture a separate audio layer. A single device cannot reliably run every camera and browser recorder combination at once, so test first.

02 — SETUP

Stabilize the phone and silence interruptions

Use a tripod or stable support, enable Do Not Disturb, lock focus and exposure when possible, and place the microphone away from phone handling and charging noise.

03 — TEST

Check framing, storage, battery, and audio

Record a short sample with the actual whisper and props. Confirm free storage, power, heat, microphone selection, sync, and whether automatic audio processing changes the texture.

04 — RECORD

Work in short synchronized sections

Capture one trigger sequence at a time. If sound is separate, use a clap or spoken slate and keep both devices running through the reference.

Capture the audio layer in the browser.

05 — EDIT

Transfer and finish the audio layer

Move the audio into Hilite, edit spoken mistakes through the transcript, reduce distractions conservatively, then synchronize the export in a video editor.

Shape spoken and trigger sections through the transcript.
Improve clarity conservatively without erasing intentional texture.

Build the ASMR audio layer with fewer technical barriers.

Record, edit, enhance, and prepare the sound in Hilite, then synchronize it with the picture in your video editor.
