01
Choose the recording and sharing format
Open Voice Memos, select your recording, open More Actions, and choose Share. On iOS 26, Options lets you choose Rendered for a single M4A audio file or Editable for compatible Apple software. Choose Rendered when the recipient simply needs to listen.
Before sending a recording to an editor or guest, listen to its opening and check its name. A useful handoff identifies the speaker, session and take. For example, “Episode 12 — guest answer — take 2” gives the recipient more context than “New Recording 8”.
02
Send it to the person who needs it
Choose Messages, Mail or AirDrop from the sharing options, select the recipient, and complete the send action. Available destinations depend on the apps installed on your phone.
For a quick review, include a short note explaining what you need: approval of a quotation, feedback on the whole recording, or an edit at a particular timestamp. Ask for one clear next action so that sending the file moves the episode forward.
03
Check the handoff
Confirm that the recipient can open the recording and hear the section you intended to send. Keep your original until the working copy has been checked. Sending a file is not the same as knowing the right person has received a usable copy.
If the destination rejects the attachment, check its current size limit. A cloud-file link may suit a longer recording better than repeated attachment attempts. Do not shorten the original just to fit a message when the recipient needs the complete interview.

Continue into editing
Keep this task separate from moving an entire recording library to a computer. For that workflow, use our transfer guide below. If this memo will become an episode, decide which portions belong in the finished story before beginning detailed cleanup.
