How to submit a podcast to Apple Podcasts

Prepare your RSS feed, validate the show, submit it through Apple Podcasts Connect, and understand what happens during review.

By Dumi Mabhena

01 — Before you submit

Confirm your podcast and feed are ready

Apple requires an Apple Podcasts Connect account. An RSS-based show needs a publicly accessible RSS 2.0 feed with required tags, artwork and at least one episode.

Publish a trailer or complete episode through your hosting provider first, then confirm the title, author, description, artwork and enclosure information appear correctly in the feed.

  • Apple Podcasts Connect account
  • Public RSS feed URL
  • At least one published episode
  • Show artwork and required metadata
  • Rights to all audio, music and artwork

02 — Validate the feed

Test the RSS feed before submission

Use the HiLite RSS feed validator and Apple Podcasts Connect to identify structural errors before the show enters review. Resolve errors at the hosting source because RSS metadata normally overrides information entered elsewhere.

03 — Add the show

Submit through Apple Podcasts Connect

In Apple Podcasts Connect, choose Add, then New Show, and select the option to add a show with an RSS feed. Paste the feed URL and review the imported show information.

Complete content-rights and contact information, then configure availability, distribution, transcripts and the preferred release timing.

Add a title, description and cover art, then publish immediately or schedule the episode.

04 — Review and publish

Resolve warnings and send the show for review

Apple validates the feed before submission. Warnings and errors should be addressed before publishing the show. Once submitted, the show must pass Apple’s technical validation and review process before it becomes available in the catalog.

05 — After approval

Publish future episodes through your host

For an RSS-based podcast, add and update episodes through the hosting provider rather than editing the episode audio inside Apple Podcasts Connect. Apple reads changes from the feed.

Keep the feed URL stable, monitor the show status and use Apple Podcasts Connect for availability, ownership, analytics and other catalog settings.

Prepare the episode once. Publish it everywhere.
