How to upload a Voice Memo to Google Drive

In Voice Memos, select the recording, tap More, then Share. Scroll to Save to Files, choose a folder and tap Save. Keep track of the filename. The default export is M4A; an Editable export preserves additional recording information for compatible software.

Give an interview or retake a useful name before you transfer it. For example, “Episode 12 — intro — take 2” makes the file easier to identify alongside the rest of a production folder.

Open Google Drive on your iPhone and check that you are using the intended account. Tap Add, choose File upload, and select the exported recording. On the upload screen, use Location to choose its destination folder, then tap Upload.

Drive accepts audio files. Uploading uses your Drive storage, including when the destination folder belongs to someone else. If the upload fails, check available storage and your network connection before trying the same file again.

Open the destination folder and check the filename. If playback is available, listen to a short section; otherwise download the uploaded copy and check it in a suitable audio player. Confirm that you transferred the whole recording rather than a similarly named retake.

Keep the original while the handoff is being checked. A tidy folder is useful, but a verified recording is what lets the next person start work.

Uploading the file and giving a collaborator access are separate tasks. Check the file’s sharing settings for the intended recipient rather than assuming the upload itself sent it to them.
