How to remove background noise from an ASMR video

Reduce distracting noise from ASMR video audio without erasing whispers, breathing, prop texture, or intentional silence.

By The Hilite team

01 — DIAGNOSE

Separate noise from intentional ASMR sound

Identify steady fans or hum, intermittent traffic or clicks, handling vibration, camera noise, and intentional mouth or prop sounds. Do not classify every quiet texture as a defect.

02 — SOURCE

Fix preventable noise before processing

Move the microphone closer, lower noisy gain, isolate the table, silence appliances, separate the camera from the microphone, and record a new test plus room tone.

03 — EDIT

Remove isolated interruptions first

Use the transcript to locate unwanted speech and repeated takes. Make complete cuts around visible actions only when synchronization can be preserved.

Shape spoken and trigger sections through the transcript.

04 — ENHANCE

Apply conservative cleanup

Compare with the source and stop if whispers become metallic, silence pumps, or subtle triggers disappear. Mild consistent room tone is often better than artifacts.

Improve clarity conservatively without erasing intentional texture.

05 — REVIEW

Check the synchronized final render

Listen on headphones at a safe level, inspect the quietest sections, confirm stereo movement and picture sync, and keep both the untouched source and reviewed master.
