How to record an ASMR video

Plan the visual performance and capture a clean, intimate audio layer for an ASMR video, then synchronize both parts without treating Hilite as a video editor.

By The Hilite team

01 — PLAN

Design the visual and sound sequence

List every trigger, camera angle, prop change, spoken section, and quiet transition. Decide whether audio and video will be captured together or as separate synchronized takes.

02 — SETUP

Control the room before adding equipment

Silence fans and notifications, soften reflective surfaces, stabilize the camera, and isolate the microphone from desk and prop vibrations. Record room tone before the performance.

03 — TEST

Test the loudest and quietest triggers

Monitor on headphones. Check whisper intelligibility, handling noise, stereo movement if used, clipping, autofocus noise, and whether props block the camera or microphone.

04 — RECORD

Capture sections with sync references

Record manageable sequences and use a visible clap or spoken slate when audio and video are separate. Leave clean gaps between alternate takes and keep microphone gain unchanged.

05 — FINISH

Edit the audio and synchronize the picture

Use Hilite for the spoken-audio layer, preserve intentional texture, and export a reviewed file. Place it beneath the picture in a video editor and check synchronization from beginning to end.

Shape spoken and trigger sections through the transcript.
Improve clarity conservatively without erasing intentional texture.

Build the ASMR audio layer with fewer technical barriers.
