How to manage your drafts in Hilite

Find unfinished episodes, update their details, assign them to shows, and move them from draft to scheduled or published.

By The Hilite team

01 — OVERVIEW

Keep unfinished episodes organized in Drafts

The Drafts area gives you a single view of episodes that have been started but not yet published. A draft may be untitled, partly edited, assigned to a show, or waiting for its final details.

This guide covers creating and saving a draft, returning to it later, updating its artwork and episode information, assigning it to a show, moving it to Trash, and choosing instant or scheduled publishing.

02 — DRAFTS

Open Drafts and review unfinished work

Use the main navigation to open Drafts. Review the available items and identify the episode you want to continue.

Draft names and show assignments help distinguish projects. An untitled draft usually needs its episode details completed before it is ready to publish.

03 — CREATE

Create an episode and save it as a draft

From Drafts, begin a new episode by recording audio or bringing in an existing recording. Continue into the editor after the audio is ready.

When you want to pause the work without publishing it, choose Save and continue, then save the episode as a draft. It will return to the Drafts area for later editing.

  • Start with a recording or existing audio.
  • Continue into the editor.
  • Save the episode as a draft before leaving.

04 — EDIT

Continue editing the audio

Open a draft to continue working in the editor. You can review the recording, edit the transcript or timeline, and use available audio-enhancement tools before publishing.

Save regularly as you work so the latest version remains available in Drafts.

05 — DETAILS

Add artwork and episode information

Open the draft’s details to add or update its thumbnail, title, show, season, and episode number. Assigning the episode to the correct show keeps the catalogue organized.

If title-generation tools are available, you can use them as a starting point and then refine the wording. Review every field and select Save when the details are correct.

  • Choose or upload episode artwork.
  • Assign the episode to the correct show.
  • Add the season and episode number when relevant.
  • Enter or generate a clear episode title.
  • Save the updated details.

06 — ACTIONS

Edit, publish, or move the draft to Trash

Use the draft’s action menu to choose what should happen next. You can return to the editor, update its details, begin publishing, or move the item to Trash.

Before deleting a draft, confirm that you selected the correct episode and no longer need its recording or edits.

07 — PUBLISH

Choose instant or scheduled publishing

When the episode is ready, select Publish and continue through the review step. Confirm the episode title, show, season, episode number, artwork, and other publishing details.

Choose Instant Publish to make the episode available as soon as processing is complete, or Scheduled Publish to select a later date and time.

  • Review the episode and show information.
  • Choose instant or scheduled publishing.
  • Confirm the selected date and time when scheduling.

08 — CONFIRM

Confirm the episode’s published status

After publishing, check the show’s episode list to confirm that the episode appears in the correct published or scheduled category.

If the show’s distribution connections are already configured, the episode can then flow to the connected podcast platforms according to their processing times and requirements.
